NANOHUB is an innovative start-up born in 2018 from the experience of the founding members and the proficiency of other enterprises – today an integral part of the societal structure – with the aim of developing solutions based on the employment of innovative nanotechnologies.
The technology we use is photocatalysis, the natural phenomenon in which a substance, called a photocatalyst through the action of light (natural or artificial) changes the speed of a chemical reaction. The major applications at the moment use photocatalysts based on titanium dioxide (TiO2) that needs to be exposed to UV light to be activated. Nanohub has developed a new WO3-based photocatalyst that has significantly increased the effectiveness of photocatalysis and eliminated the problem of using UV light. Read more here.
Nanohub’s ongoing research has led to the patenting of the innovative KtV (Kill the Virus) filter, which speeds up the natural process of photocatalysis by up to 20 times, eliminating viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens.
NANOHUB’s patented KtV filter significantly improves the air quality of indoor environments with a process that is:
The efficacy of the KtV filter becomes even more crucial in a period of health emergency such as the one we are experiencing: its effectiveness has been tested in laboratory against Sars-CoV-2 by the San Raffaele Hospital – Viral Pathogenesis and Biosecurity Unit.
The test prooved that the KtV filter is able to inactivate the Sars-Cov-2 viral load (expressed in plaque forming unit PFU/ml) in a very short time: after 10 minutes of treatment there is a 98.2% reduction in the viral load, reaching 100% after only 30 minutes.
The results were also the subject of a scientific publication in the ‘Journal of Nanotechnologies and Nanomaterials’ (link to article here).
NANOHUB devices featuring the application of the new patented filter KtV, therefore, make it possible to meet the objectives of improving indoor air quality and maintaining it, while at the same time allowing the containment or slowing down of SARS-CoV-2 transmission.
NANOHUB sanitisers equipped with the KtV filter have multiple uses:
– within existing air treatment systems
– ceiling and false ceiling installation
– with and without (stand-alone) installation.
*In the “Products” section the maximum capacity (flow rate in m3/h) of indoor air that can be treated by each NANOHUB device in which the “KtV” filter is installed is indicated, together with the domestic and professional environments in which the use of the device is most recommended.

NANOHUB devices equipped with “KtV” filters are complementary tools, but not replacements, of the most common measures against the spread of the Covid-19 virus in indoor environments, (e.g.: masks, plexiglass partitions, sanitizers and social distancing, etc.).
